This is an excellent opportunity for candidates to gain further skills and knowledge of working within Emergency Medicine. It is suitable for those looking to develop their portfolio prior to applying for a training scheme post or those who wish to continue down a career grade pathway. MT02/MT03 depending upon previous experience.
Main duties include assisting in the provision of effective emergency treatment to patients attending in a timely manner, meeting the ED 4-hour target without compromising the quality of patient care, participating in the department's Teaching and Audit Programmes, ensuring departmental and hospital policies and protocols are respected and adhered to, and maintaining duties according to GMC standards and trust policies.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We also have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield, and Weardale, as well as over 80 other community-based settings and patients' homes.

These are new posts created to increase our junior tier numbers, strengthen the team, improve work-life balance for clinicians by enabling a maximum of 1:3 weekend working, and enhance our ability to deliver high-quality care to patients.
Applicants are expected to have undergone appropriate foundation training or equivalent. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in Emergency Medicine. Opportunities include developing skills in emergency medicine, point-of-care ultrasound, quality improvement, and teaching and training, including simulation, with 2 weeks of paid study leave and 3 hours per week of paid self-directed educational development time.
