Job description

LeedsTeaching Hospital NHS Trust is one of the largest Trusts in the UK with abusy secondary and tertiary referral ENT department. The ENT departmentconsists of 14 consultants, 1 Associate specialist, 4 specialist ENT trainees, 2 Fellows and 8 junior doctors.

Thepost offers 12 month fixed term period. Subspecialist areas to be chosen bythe fellow and include Head and Neck, Paediatric airway, Otology and Lateralskull base, Rhinology and Anterior skull base. The fellow will need areasonably advanced amount of experience and a desire to provide an excellentservice to patients.

Thepost is suitable for post certificate completion of training SpecialistRegistrars (or equivalent) who would like to gain further specialistexperience.

Interviewsfor those who are successfully shortlisted are expected to take place onTuesday 8th July 2025 with post expected to commence at the beginning of October 2025.

TheENT department has been rehoused in a new area, offering adjacency of clinic,consultant office, secretaries and management staff, which greatly enhances theworking environment. Theatres are in the same area as our related specialties,allowing ease of interspecialty work. The paediatric work is carried out in theadjacent Childrens Hospital, with excellent ward and ICU facilities.

MEDICALSTAFF IN THE DEPARTMENT

TheENT unit consists of 14 consultants. There are currently 7 middle grade postsand 8 junior doctors, making this a thriving department covering almost allaspects of ENT surgery.

Thepost holder is required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council(GMC) and hold a licence to practice.

Standardsof Conduct and Behaviour

Youare required to work to the standards set out by the General Medical Council inGood Medical Practice. This includesprotecting patients when you believe that a doctors or other colleaguesconduct, performance or health is a threat to them. If, after establishing the facts, it isnecessary, you must follow the Trusts procedures in this matter and informyour Clinical Director or Medical Director in the first instance.

Person Specification
Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills
  • Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues
  • Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence-based practice, patient
Clinical Experience and Career Progression
  • 48 months experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice;
  • All Specialist registrar competencies in ENT
Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification MRCS (ENT) or equivalent
  • FRCS ENT or equivalent DLO
Eligibility, Fitness to practice
  • Be eligible for full registration with, and hold a current licence to
Language Skills
  • practise from, the GMC at intended start date Eligibility to work in the UK. Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitat
