The Paediatric department is based at Whipps Cross Hospital and is part of the Children's Clinical Board and Network within Barts Health. You will be joining a medical department that currently has 14 Consultant Acute Physicians and 32 Junior Doctors.

Main duties of the job

Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group, is seeking a full-time Paediatric Clinical Fellow for a 12-month fixed-term contract. We are looking for an enthusiastic clinician to join our multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, and support staff in the Paediatric Department, based at Whipps Cross Hospital. The post will commence in September and involves providing clinical services across several areas, including the Paediatric A&E Department, Paediatric Assessment Unit, Children's Outpatient Department, Labour Ward, and Postnatal Wards.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience working at SHO level (or equivalent), including six months in a Level 2 Neonatal Unit.

Desirable

  • Experience in a Level 3 Neonatal Unit at SHO level.
  • Interest and participation in clinical audit and quality improvement.
  • Teaching experience.

Skills

  • Good communication skills.
  • Clinical skills in general paediatric and neonatal practice, including venipuncture, cannulation, and lumbar puncture.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Interpersonal skills for working with patients, carers, and colleagues.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • MB ChB, MRPCH part 1 (or equivalent), APLS, NLS.
  • Strong general paediatric knowledge.
  • Competence in assessing and managing acutely ill children.
  • Resuscitation skills for paediatric patients.

Desirable

  • MRCPCH part 2 theory and clinical exams.
  • Knowledge of NHS organization.
