Job Summary
Applications are invited for one full-time Clinical Fellow ST3+ doctor in Urology.
The Department of Urology comprises a mix of Consultants, Specialty Trainees/Clinical Fellows ranging from ST3 to ST8 level and junior level trainees. It is a busy clinical environment with a large volume of elective and emergency surgery and scope for personal development. A number of our current trust grade registrars are completing their FRCS examinations.
Swindon is a major town set within the rural beauty of Wiltshire, nestling between the Cotswolds to the North and Marlborough Downs to the South. Travel to major cities including Bristol, Oxford, and London is easy with very frequent rail links and within an hour's journey by rail. The M4 motorway is within a couple of miles for travel by road. Locally, accommodation is affordable for this part of the country and there are excellent shopping, social, and sports facilities within easy reach.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work within the Urology team. Together with their colleagues, they will be responsible for the day-to-day management of their team's in-patients, perform the duties of the on-call Urology registrar, and attend theatre and out-patients. If appointed, you will be one of six Urology registrars who all participate in the on-call. The successful candidate also will be expected to participate with the training of junior staff and medical students attached to the Urology department.

The Urology department has a long history of Urological rotations, with an emphasis on providing a high-quality training environment in a busy, large District General Hospital with consultant teams with excellent links to nearby teaching centres, notably Oxford and Bristol. The successful candidates will provide on-call cover for the team on a 1 in 6 rolling rota, and providing ward cover for the teams in-patients. There is potential opportunity for hands-on training in the operating theatre. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take study leave to attend examinations and courses as required.
