Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. Applications are invited for a fixed-term post at ST3+ level for the position of Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, to commence as soon as possible at Basildon Hospital.

Situated in the South East of England, Basildon Hospital offers easy access to the Channel Tunnel, London, and the national motorway network via M25.

The Trust is committed to first-class service delivery, innovative initiatives, and has University Hospital Teaching Status with University College London.

You will participate in the general functioning of the Directorate, including attendance at clinics, labour ward, ward rounds, and operating sessions. Support will be provided to develop a special interest, such as EPAU management, Colposcopy, Sub Fertility, Maternity Assessment, Obstetric Ultrasound, Urogynecology, or Minimal Access Surgery.

The department supports the successful candidate in progressing towards the Specialist Registrar level through Article 14 and relevant ATSMs.

You are expected to demonstrate leadership qualities, recognize your limitations, and seek help when needed. ST3 level doctors will rotate regionally to gain necessary competencies and experience.

Your responsibilities include liaising with midwives, nurses, junior doctors, patients, relatives, and senior staff; managing day cases, outpatient, and inpatient services; participating in ward rounds and theatre sessions; attending outpatient, diagnostic, and pre-assessment clinics; teaching medical students; supervising F2 and ST1-2 doctors; maintaining administrative duties; studying for exams; participating in audits; and attending educational sessions.
