Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is offering an exciting opportunity in North Wales to join an innovative oncology team. The post focuses on delivering care across a range of malignancies and will support clinically supervised postgraduate qualifications such as Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Education or related studies.

Main duties of the job The post is suitable for doctors contemplating a career in Clinical or Medical Oncology, and will provide experience in a wide range of malignancies and in the management of oncology in-patients, out-patients and acute oncology service.
The post holder will be supported by and work in conjunction with the Consultants, working alongside Registrars, Specialty Doctors and the junior medical and nursing teams. There is no on-call commitment.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities The post holder will be supported by and work in conjunction with the Consultants, working alongside Registrars, Specialty Doctors and the junior medical and nursing teams. There is no on-call commitment.
There will be an opportunity to participate in departmental teaching and audit sessions. There is also the possibility to participate in national audits if interested within each specialty.
This post is a fixed term 2 year contract.

Experience Essential criteria

• Minimum of three years post-registration experience

Desirable criteria

• Previous experience of working in oncology

Knowledge & Qualifications Essential criteria

• Full GMC registration with license to practice
• MB ChB or MBBS or equivalent
• IT experience
• BLS

Desirable criteria

• MRCP part 1

Basic skills and abilities Essential Criteria

• Competence and skills required of middle-grade staff
• Ability to write clear, concise and legible clinical notes
• A sound basic knowledge of palliative care
• Ability to supervise junior doctors
• Ability and willingness to provide teaching to medical students, junior doctors and nursing staff
• Experience of clinical audit

Desirable criteria

• Previous teaching experience
• Previous experience of undertaking audit

• Excellent patient communication skills
• Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to build and maintain good relations with all staff groups
• Willingness to facilitate local departmental meetings eg M&M, audit groups
