A leading health service provider in Sutton Coldfield is seeking a Clinical Fellow in Stroke Medicine to deliver high-class stroke services. The role includes managing acute stroke patients, participating in clinical governance, and contributing to clinical trials. Applicants should possess a Medical Degree and be registered with the GMC. This position offers opportunities for professional development and includes additional pay for out-of-hours work.

Clinical Fellow in Stroke Medicine - Good Hope Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for dynamic and innovative individuals to join our team and help in delivery of high class stroke service in Good Hope Hospital across the whole stroke pathway. They will be responsible for the assessment and management of acute stroke patients along with post stroke medical complications and neurorehabilitation. There will be opportunities to participate in HASU work based at QEHB and participate in thrombolysis registrar rota. The appointees will also contribute to recruitment of patients to clinical trials including hyperacute stroke trials. The stroke clinical fellow will also contribute to the TIA service in the hospital. Support for the out-patient follow up of patients following discharge will also form part of the role. There are weekly educational sessions and regular clinical governance and morbidity and mortality review meetings. He will also play an active part in the daily stroke MDT meetings.
A formal timetable will be agreed with individuals following appointment. The post holder will be subject to review to assess progress (including the relevant professional development activities undertaken). A stroke consultant will be allocated to supervise the post holder and also have responsibility for education and career developments. Study leave will be in accordance with the terms and conditions for medical staff. Access to office facilities, secretarial support and IT facilities will be available. Audit is well supported by the department. The appointee will be involved in audit and quality improvement activities undertaken within the department and will play an active role in the evaluation of new treatment modalities or processes.
There will be a requirement for the appointee to do out of hours either on weekdays or weekends. There will be an additional supplement given for the out of hours work.
