This is an exciting opportunity for the postholder to join the Specialist Palliative Care team (SPCT) and Medicine for Older People team at the BRI for a 12-month fixed term contract. The purpose of the role is to support with delivery of hospital advisory, adult specialist palliative care services whilst giving the postholder an opportunity to gain experience in Palliative Medicine and Medicine for Older People. There are two posts, each consisting of six months working with the Supportive and Palliative Care hospital advisory team and six months on Ward A522 within Medicine for Older People.
The hours of work are Monday to Friday 9am till 5pm. There is no on-call associated with the post. The postholder is required to have GMC registration and an appropriate level of clinical experience in a hospital setting. The candidates should be able to demonstrate evidence of working well in a team, providing person-centred care and an understanding of the importance of a holistic approach to care. Good communication skills and an ability to organise and prioritise workload are essential. This post would give excellent and broad experience for a pre-IMT or pre-registrar candidate. It would also be a great opportunity for a candidate interested in GP training to gain additional skills or a special interest.
2x rotation posts within SPCT and MFOP
The successful postholders will spend 6 months working within SPCT working alongside the multidisciplinary team providing inpatient assessments, consultation and advice. Liaising with GP's and community practitioners, regional hospices as well as other palliative care service providers to support our patients transfer of care. The other 6 months, the post holders will work within MFOP working on our No criteria to reside ward, participating in best interest meetings, complex discharge planning and supporting palliative care needs on the ward.
The successful candidate must full GMC registration with a current licence to practice and have had adequate clinical experience in the hospital setting.
