Job description

The successful applicant will be a doctor wishing to develop their skills and knowledge of Medicine for Older People. This post offers excellent and broad experience suitable for a pre-IMT or pre-registrar candidate. It is also ideal for candidates interested in GP training to gain additional skills or a special interest.

The post will be whole-time; part-time or job share options will be considered. Please contact us to discuss these arrangements.

The successful appointee will join the existing medical teams providing inpatient care for Medicine for Older People.

The clinical fellow post available is detailed below, starting August 2025.

Clinical Responsibilities:
  1. Ward-based duties including routine patient reviews, care progression, prescribing, requesting and evaluating tests, and liaising with medical and allied health professionals.
  2. Supervision by a Consultant Clinical Supervisor.
  3. Participation in the training curriculum and appraisal process.
  4. Opportunities to attend clinics and undertake relevant procedures.
  5. Rotation between the Older Persons Assessment Unit (OPAU), acute Medicine for Older People wards, and no-criteria-to-reside wards.
Educational Opportunities:

Throughout the working week, including clinical governance, frailty, and liaison work. Additional opportunities include participating in departmental mortality and morbidity meetings, teaching, audits, or quality improvement projects, all with support and supervision.
