ADVANCED SPECIALTY TRAINEE (AST) IN UPPER GI SURGERY
ROYAL INFIRMARY OF EDINBURGH

Applications are welcome for the above 12 month, full time (48 hours per week) post based in Royal Infirmary from 1 February 2026.

Applicants must possess the FRCS or equivalent and have undertaken full training in General Surgery. This post is suitable for a final year or post CCT (or equivalent) surgical trainee who wishes to gain experience in the advanced complex surgical management of benign and malignant oesophago-gastric disorders. Candidates should therefore have had significant previous training in upper GI surgery and applications MUST accompanied by a supporting reference from a referee/clinical supervisor/programme director who can confirm the individual’s suitability for advanced training in this speciality.
