8 - 12 Months Fixed Term contract

Clinical Fellow(s) in Critical Care

Applications are invited for the post(s) of Clinical Fellow(s) in Critical Care.

The Trust provides acute medical and surgical services to a population of around 500,000, which more than doubles during the busy holiday periods.

An exciting opportunity for post-foundation training level applicants wishing to pursue careers in anaesthesia / perioperative medicine and/or intensive care medicine. These posts will provide individuals with considerable relevant clinical and non-clinical experience to support subsequent applications to these specialities.

These posts offer an opportunity to be part of our Critical Care unit in Cornwall, with roles suited to those interested in developing careers in both anaesthetics and ITU.

Within these posts, there will be protected time to develop individual interests, with opportunities in world-class research, meaningful quality improvement work, and clinical innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Admit / receive patients and take handover from clinical teams.
  2. Review and prescribe appropriate admission medications.
  3. Attend / conduct ward rounds as timetabled.
  4. Undertake clinical review and clinical interventions as appropriate.
  5. Recognise and offer immediate clinical intervention for the deteriorating patient in line with required clinical competencies and ALS protocols.
  6. Present patients for senior review and complete discharge paperwork as necessary, followed by verbal handover to the parent surgical team.
  7. Attend teaching, including Thursday critical care junior doctor teaching.
