A leading healthcare organization in Wales is seeking a Doctor in Anaesthesia with interest in education to teach medical students. You'll provide clinical anaesthesia services and will be funded to pursue a postgraduate certificate in education. Ysbyty Gwynedd Anaesthetic department is looking to recruit a Doctor in Anaesthesia with an interest in education to help deliver the undergraduate simulation teaching programme to 3rd, 4th and 5th year medical students seconded to the hospital. The successful applicant will be funded to undertake a PGCE (or an equivalent course agreed mutually) and will be supported with allocated time for teaching and study. The successful applicant will also be required to provide clinical anaesthesia services both in and out of hours and therefore we require at least 6 months anaesthetic experience with an initial assessment of competency or equivalent. This is a temporary post of 12 months duration. The successful applicant will join a team of Specialty Doctors, trainees and clinical fellows working on our resident and out of hours on call rotas.
Main duties of the job
The job involves a commitment to teaching the medical students who are based with the Anaesthetic department in Ysbyty Gwynedd. The students may be here as part of their 3rd year, Hospital Front Door Programme or as part of their Junior Assistantship module.
The teaching will consist of simulation sessions, tutorials and skills sessions. There will also be a commitment to teaching medical students in the theatre and intensive care environment.
As part of this fellowship the doctor will be enrolled into the post graduate certificate of education at Bangor University.
