Job summary

A healthcare provider in the UK seeks a qualified individual for a colorectal surgery position. The role involves significant responsibilities in colorectal and peritoneal malignancy surgery, teaching opportunities, and research involvement. Candidates must have FRCS or Equivalent and be committed to delivering expert patient care. This is a fixed-term position available from September 2024.

Job description

This position is aimed at individuals at the end of their specialised colorectal training. The successful candidate will be involved in colorectal and peritoneal malignancy surgery and take part in local and national MDTs; outpatient clinics and ward rounds.

You will be involved in and responsible for inputting outcome data into the colorectal and peritoneal malignancy databases and using this data to submit abstracts and papers to national and international meetings and journals.

The successful candidate will have FRCS or Equivalent and full GMC registration supported by relevant clinical training and experience. You will be able to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within the specialty and take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.

You will be able to apply research outcomes to clinical problems and teach clinical skills to medical and nursing staff. You will demonstrate a caring attitude to patients, work well within a team, and motivate those around you.

This post is available on a 1-yr fixed term basis and is available from September 2024, however the unit can be flexible with start dates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Involvement in colorectal and peritoneal malignancy surgery and take part in wards rounds theatre and outpatient sessions.
  • Involvement in and responsible for inputting outcome data into the colorectal and peritoneal malignancy databases.
  • Using data to submit abstracts and papers to national and international meetings and journals.
  • Supporting the organisation and running of courses and teaching sessions and collaborate and work as part of a research team with the pelican and other fellows.
  • Participating in weekly colorectal MDT and Peritoneal Malignancy Specialist MDT and attend the weekly unit diary meeting and MDT's.
  • Participating in the on-call rota with Clinical and Research Fellows and registrars.
  • Participating in the publication and presentation of results from the unit.
  • Involvement in specialty and directorate meetings and presentation of case summaries.
