A leading healthcare provider in Cambridge is seeking Clinical Fellows for a rotational programme in surgery. This role offers significant exposure to various surgical specialties, including major trauma care. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to pursue a Master's degree in Surgery, partially funded by the trust. Ideal for Resident Doctors looking to advance their surgical training.
Applications are invited for Clinical Fellow rotational posts in surgery (core level) working across surgical specialities including major trauma, urology, and trauma and orthopaedics.
These posts are available from 06 August 2025 for 12 months. This position is ideal for a Resident Doctor seeking a multi-specialty core surgical training equivalent post.
Main duties of the job
The post offers significant exposure to surgical specialties including urology, trauma, and orthopaedics, as well as major trauma care.
The successful candidate will be involved in caring for surgical patients, including multiply injured Major Trauma inpatients on the Major Trauma Ward.
Up to two successful applicants may be partially funded to complete a Master in Surgery (MChir) degree at the University of Cambridge. The Major Trauma Service will fund 50% of the course fees (£4,694 per year), with the fellow expected to cover the remaining 50%. The MChir degree is a 2-year part-time program, and fellows will be offered a 2-year placement.
At the end of the 2-year post, candidates are expected to be well-positioned to apply for ST3 positions.
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical qualification, with full registration and a Licence to Practice from the GMC at the time of application.
Please note that these posts do not carry Postgraduate Dean’s approval or formal training recognition. This post may be suitable for those wishing to undertake an “F3” role.

Applicants must demonstrate effective communication skills in English, as outlined in GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess IELTS/OET certification prior to obtaining a GMC licence.
