Job Description:

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Applications are welcomed by NHS Tayside for a Fixed Term Clinical Fellow in Cardiology.

You will join the established Tayside Cardiology Registrar on-call rota, including supporting the 24/7 Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) service. Responsibilities include general Registrar activities such as covering the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and wards as ‘registrar of the week’. There are opportunities to gain exposure to cardiology procedures, making this an excellent opportunity to start a career in Cardiology.

The Cardiology Department at Ninewells Hospital and Perth Royal Infirmary provides inpatient and outpatient cardiology services for patients in Dundee and surrounding areas, Perth and Kinross, Angus, and North East Fife. Facilities include a spacious CCU with 9 monitored beds, x-ray screening, haemodynamic monitoring, and dialysis. The department also has a 30-bed Cardiology Ward with telemetry beds, outpatient clinics, and advanced imaging facilities such as echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and CT coronary angiography.

The service features a main cardiac catheter laboratory and a mobile lab for pacing and PCI procedures. Opportunities include exposure to coronary angiography, PCI, and pacemaker implantation, including complex devices. The electrophysiology service at Ninewells is well developed.

Informal enquiries are welcome. The closing date for applications is 26/05/2025, but early applications are encouraged as the position may close sooner once a suitable candidate is appointed.
