The NHS Golden Jubilee University National Hospital offers a 12-month Clinical Fellowship in cardiothoracic anaesthesia, focusing on critical care and echocardiography. This role provides hands-on training in specialized anaesthetic practices within a multidisciplinary environment, preparing fellows for advanced clinical responsibilities while supporting flexible working options.
The Golden Jubilee University National Hospital is the regional tertiary centre for cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, and complex electrophysiology for the West of Scotland. It also houses national services such as the Adult Congenital (SACCS), Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit, and the National Advanced Heart Failure Service, including heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellowship Post in cardiothoracic anaesthesia, critical care, and echocardiography.
This 12-month post involves working as the cardio-thoracic anaesthetic fellow in cardiothoracic theatres and the cardiac intensive care unit. The fellow will undertake supervised training in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and critical care alongside rotational anaesthetic trainees from the West of Scotland deanery. The post-holder should also be able to work independently in general and orthopaedic theatres when required.
Post holders will participate in the cardiothoracic anaesthetic full shift rota for cardiac intensive care. This rota includes rotational ST anaesthetic trainees, two anaesthetic lecturer posts, and a senior clinical fellow.
Applicants must hold full GMC registration and have passed the FRCA examination (or equivalent).
