Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust in Basildon is seeking a motivated doctor for a full-time ST1/2 post on the assessment wards/Medical SDEC. You will participate in consultant ward rounds, ensure accurate medical notes, review drug prescriptions, and ensure timely GP discharge letters.

You will also contribute to teaching medical students, attend audit meetings, and work with an educational supervisor, supporting professional development in a dynamic NHS environment.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent from recognised medical school.
• This is a full-time post at ST1/2 level and attracts 1B Banding (40%).

Your duties will involve the day-to-day responsibility for patients on the assessment wards/Medical SDEC, taking part in consultant ward rounds and ensuring that patient medical case notes are properly completed, drug prescriptions are regularly reviewed, appropriate investigates are carried out and the results acted upon - and made available for consultant ward rounds. You will ensure that GP electronic discharge letters containing all relevant information are completed and sent in a timely manner, support the teaching of medical students, attend >60% of the formal education events including audit meetings.
