Responsibilities
  • Deliver preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, and repairs on a broad range of electrical, electronic, and mechanical medical devices.
  • Support the commissioning and acceptance of new medical equipment.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out corrective actions on patient-connected and life-support systems.
  • Provide technical advice and support to clinical staff, promoting safe and effective equipment use.
  • Work across various departments, occasionally under pressure, to support urgent clinical needs.
  • Maintain meticulous technical records in line with ISO 9001:2015 standards and Trust protocols.
  • Contribute to training, continuous improvement, and development initiatives within the Clinical Engineering service.
Qualifications

Education/Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Essential – HNC or Level 4 qualification in Clinical Engineering, Electronics, or equivalent

Desirable

  • Further technical or vocational training (e.g., medical device servicing courses)
  • Professional registration (EngTech)
  • Experience
  • Essential – Experience of working with electronic or electromechanical systems
  • Desirable – Previous NHS or healthcare engineering experience
  • Desirable – Experience using a CMMS (e.g., e-Quip)
  • Knowledge
  • Essential – Basic understanding of medical equipment safety and function
  • Desirable – Awareness of standards such as IEC 62353, UK MDR
