Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Clinical Engineer - Associate Practitioner (Band 4) to join the Medical Equipment Management Service at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Princess Royal Maternity Hospital. You will support safe use of medical devices across NHSGGC and handle faults, commissioning, and preventive maintenance.

The role offers a varied workload with opportunities for competency-based training, hands-on device work, and progression within NHS Scotland’s clinical engineering team.

Qualifications

• Engineering or technology knowledge at SCQF Level 8 or equivalent.
• Experience servicing, repairing, and fault-finding electrical or electronic systems.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• An interest in engineering, technology and healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance and management of medical equipment across NHSGGC.
• Respond to faults and breakdowns in clinical areas.
• Commission and install new medical equipment.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance on devices.
• Calibrate and performance-test equipment.
• Carry out repairs on low-risk/non-complex equipment.
• Work with clinical staff to ensure safety and availability for patient care.
• Maintain accurate records and lifecycle management of medical devices.
