Job summary

The Endoscopy Service at North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced, talented, passionate and forward thinking Nurse Endoscopist to join our team. We have a busy and growing JAG accredited department which continues to expand following the planned opening of a new state of the art unit at Cumberland Infirmary this Spring.

As a Nurse Endoscopist, you will be already experienced in working in endoscopy services and additionally have a sound clinical management background. You will have experience in upper and/or lower endoscopy, and a passion to continually grow and develop. As well as having a non-medical prescribing qualification you will also have or be working towards a training the trainers qualification.

You will be an enthusiastic and inspirational team member who will work within the nurse endoscopist workforce and operational components of the service across the two sites (Cumberland Infirmary & West Cumberland Hospital), supported by the Clinical Lead, Matron & General Manager for endoscopy.

You will be a skilled communicator with a passion for patient care, education and staff development. You will place a high priority on maintaining a supportive and caring environment for patients and staff and on developing the highest standards of evidence based practice and achieving key quality metrics.

Main duties of the job

Provide expert diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy &/or flexible sigmoidoscopy) independently on sedated and non-sedated patients at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle and West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven.
