This exciting secondment opportunity is designed for experienced Critical Care Area (CCA) nurses who are passionate about education, staff development and improving patient care through learning. The role combines clinical practice with educational leadership, with approximately two thirds of time dedicated to supporting learning and development activities and one third maintained within the clinical environment to retain clinical expertise and credibility. Working within the CCA Education Team, you will support the delivery of high-quality education programmes, including induction, mandatory training, competency assessment, simulation, professional development and clinical skills teaching. Through developing and supporting the critical care workforce, you will directly contribute to safe, effective and compassionate patient care. CCA is a supportive, innovative and collaborative environment where education is valued as a key component of service excellence. You will work closely with clinical educators, sisters, multidisciplinary colleagues and learners at all stages of development. The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive induction, educational mentorship and ongoing supervision from experienced members of the education team. Opportunities will be provided to develop teaching, assessment, leadership and quality improvement skills, alongside continued clinical development.
The post holder will support the delivery of high-quality patient care through the development, education and assessment of the critical care workforce. Working as part of the CCA Education Team, they will deliver learning opportunities that support staff to achieve clinical competence, professional growth and excellent patient outcomes. The role holder will contribute to induction programmes, mandatory training, clinical skills development, simulation, competency assessment and educational projects that enhance service quality and patient safety. They will act as a visible educational resource within the clinical environment, supporting learners and staff at all stages of their development. The post holder will maintain clinical credibility through regular clinical practice within CCA and will promote evidence-based practice, reflective learning and continuous improvement. They will work collaboratively with clinical leaders, educators and multidisciplinary colleagues to identify learning needs. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver educational activities while receiving support, supervision and mentorship from experienced members of the education team. Training and support will be provided to develop skills in teaching, assessment, curriculum development, quality improvement and leadership. Previous educational experience is desirable but not essential, as the role is designed to support the development of nurses with a passion for education and workforce development.
