Clinical Education Practitioner

As the Trust evolves to continue supporting the education and development of our people, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for proactive and enthusiastic clinicians to undertake the Clinical Education Practitioner role.

This role aligns a range of portfolios within education and focuses on practice-based education and clinical development, ensuring that all clinical colleagues are supported with induction, career development, professional development, and individual needs.

Base/location: Post-holders will be allocated a specific dispatch desk as their primary location, agreed at appointment. Posts will be based in Sussex and Surrey. Travel across the Trust’s geographical area may be required to meet objectives.

Working pattern: Rolling four-on-four-off rota. Unsocial hours are paid in line with Agenda for Change.

Hours of work: Full-time or fractional (0.5 WTE) appointments; flexible working requests will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The role will focus on supporting new and existing clinicians within the Trust to deliver the requirements of their role, and to develop clinically and professionally with a strong focus on career-long learning. Post-holders will work across four areas of practice: education, management and leadership, clinical practice, and research and development. Working within a larger team, post-holders will be expected to deliver a range of strategic objectives, with the time spent on each to be agreed between the post-holder and their line manager.

  • Course delivery: focus on the Trust’s Key Skills Programme from a course delivery perspective.
  • Portfolio lead / project management: support learners and clinical colleagues within an allocated dispatch desk (to be confirmed at appointment).
  • Clinical practice: may include working on Double Crewed Ambulances, PACCS clinician work, working within the Trust’s call centres, or undertaking specialist practice roles, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Scholarly activities: personal development, research, developing communities of practice, and supporting local initiatives.

Following revision of national vaccination policy, the Trust has reviewed staff requirements relating to SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. For patient-facing positions, new starters are recommended to be vaccinated unless medically exempt to provide greater protection for front-line staff. If you are successful for a front-line post, we will seek information about vaccine status and exemptions as applicable.

All positions require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check relevant to the post (basic, standard, or enhanced as appropriate). The level of check will be outlined in the conditional offer letter.

As part of the application process, you will be asked to declare any unspent/unfiltered convictions. If shortlisted, you will be sent a self-declaration form to complete prior to interview. For queries regarding declarations, please contact the Recruitment Advisor listed on the vacancy.

We are committed to supporting staff with disabilities and adjustments as needed during the role.
