The NHS is seeking a Clinical Education Lead and Speciality Pharmacist to enhance pharmacy education and clinical services within Swansea Bay University Health Board. This role involves significant responsibilities in shaping educational programs and providing clinical care, with opportunities for mentorship and professional development in a supportive environment.
Are you a pharmacist passionate about education and helping shape and inspire the next generation of pharmacy professionals? We are excited to advertise a lead pharmacy education position, key to the transformation of education and training across Swansea Bay University Health Board.
With time split between responsibilities for education and clinical services, this is an excellent opportunity for an advanced practicing pharmacist to influence the development of our future workforce. The post holder will have a senior role within the Health Board, responsible for shaping the delivery of our evolving multi-sector foundation programme. They will also undertake a two-day per week service contribution to the Singleton site, although the site is negotiable if required.
The successful applicant will join an expanding and award-winning team of core educators across the pharmacy division and be a role model for the profession and a champion for education. They will support the strategic work plan with opportunities to represent at regional and national levels and will be crucial in delivering training across our growing portfolio of programmes.

The post holder will work collaboratively with Health Board sites and Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) to ensure the successful delivery of the multi-sector foundation programme. They will also provide clinical services, including dispensary, ward-based clinical care, and prescribing services where applicable.
Successful candidates will be appointed to one of the following roles depending on qualifications and experience:
The Band 7 appointment is for candidates with relevant experience but requiring further training to support an advanced practice education role. They will undertake a structured competency framework with support from senior mentors over 12 months. Upon successful completion, they will be appointed to the Band 8a role. Failure to achieve the competencies within 12 months will result in remaining in the Band 7 position.

The post holder will collaborate with educators and managers across acute hospital sites and sectors, including primary and community pharmacy, prison pharmacy, and NHS 111, to ensure smooth planning, delivery, and support. They will also work with other professional group leads (medical, nursing, allied health professions) in planning and delivering multi-professional education.
Fluency in Welsh is desirable; applications from English and Welsh speakers are equally welcome.
We consider full-time and part-time applications, with opportunities for remote and flexible working on non-service days.
Mentorship and opportunities to develop academic and clinical teaching skills will be provided. Leadership and management skills will also be further developed within our speciality pharmacy teams.

Salary: £46,840 to £61,412 per annum (pro rata if part-time)
