Job description
Overview

Senior Clinical Director – Northamptonshire. My client is offering a rare opportunity for an established clinical leader to step into the role of Senior Clinical Director. They are looking for someone with the skills and experience to guide a talented team, set and uphold clinical strategy and standards, and ensure the continuation of the exceptional care that they are known for.

About the organisation

For more than 30 years, they have been a trusted name in veterinary care across Northamptonshire. The group has grown to five branches alongside a 24-hour Small Animal Veterinary Hospital, which has recently been transformed with a state-of-the-art upgrade. The hospital is equipped with superb facilities, including a CT scanner, purpose-built clinical spaces, excellent team amenities, and a dedicated out-of-hours provision. They are a forward-thinking practice, proud of the focus on people as much as patients.

Responsibilities
  • Take overarching responsibility for the group’s clinical provision across multiple sites.
  • Work closely with an experienced Business Development Director, manage senior vets and branch leads, and guide strategy and standards while championing clinical excellence.
  • Shape service delivery, support departmental heads, identify opportunities for growth, and ensure a consistently high standard of patient care.
  • Balance leadership with hands-on clinical work, running the hospital’s clinical provision, managing your own caseload, and leading senior veterinary colleagues.
  • Play a central role in governance and clinical direction, including oversight of out-of-hours care (although no night work will be required).
  • With the support of a skilled RVN team and leadership colleagues, contribute to a senior role with clinical autonomy and opportunities for development.
About you / Qualifications
  • Confident, dynamic, and compassionate leader with proven clinical management experience.
  • Highly organised, proactive, adaptable, and able to deliver results while inspiring others.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to prioritise, delegate, and support colleagues.
  • Skilled clinician capable of making sound clinical decisions, experienced in appraising and developing team members.
  • Leadership mindset focused on growth and achievement of the teams and valuing people as much as patients.
Working pattern

This is envisaged as a full-time role, though flexible working patterns can be considered. You will also participate in a weekend rota.

Rewards and benefits

Salary typically ranges from £70,000 to £100,000, with relocation support considered for the right candidate. Benefits include 6.6 weeks’ holiday (including bank holidays), an annual CPD allowance of £1,750 plus five days’ study leave, and full payment of RCVS fees, VDS cover, and two additional professional memberships. Health Shield, enhanced family leave, company sick pay, discounted veterinary fees, and a Cycle to Work scheme are available. The group also offers colleague wellbeing initiatives, annual pay reviews, and perks such as discounts and offers on travel, shopping, and entertainment, with a focus on professional development and a supportive workplace.
