Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a, skilled and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT-PD Therapist to join our well-established, dynamic 18-25s Psychology Service. You will offer comprehensive psychological assessment and evidence-based treatment to young people aged 18-25 who are experiencing mental health difficulties that are too complex to be managed by primary care, but not so complex that they require involvement from the secondary care mental health teams.

Based in Harlow the service covers a broad geographical area with sites in Loughton, Harlow and Stansted.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be expected to work autonomously to offer assessment and treatment to young people, both 1:1 and via a psychoeducation group programme. They will offer CBT for a range of mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, OCD, but will also offer longer-term specialist CBT for young people who are developing traits of personality disorder.

We work collaboratively with primary care colleagues, employment, education and other system partners, supporting early treatment using the CAPA model of care (Choice and Partnership Approach). You will have strong networking and relationship building skills, alongside skills in creatively and actively working with this client group and the wider network around them. You will have a strong understanding of the impact of Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences, and be interested in promoting social inclusion and the empowerment of service users within their mental health recovery.

This post will be based in the Harlow area but working in other areas will be required as part of the role. The post holder will also provide consultation and training for staff, and clinical supervision for trainees, assistants and volunteers as required.

As the role requires working across bases, access to own transport is desirable.
