The successful candidate will have extensive experience working in a specialist service such as Behcets, Amputation, Sickle Cell & Thalassemia & Weight Management, either in training or a qualified post.
We offer an opportunity to develop your career within our friendly Physical Health Psychology Service, which aims to assist people in adapting to and managing physical health problems.
The service operates across Dudley, Wolverhampton, and Sandwell & West Birmingham, with various contracts. We welcome applicants interested in single or multiple roles.
Experience in a physical health setting is desirable, but transferable skills from other specialties are also valued. Key qualities include good communication, teamwork, and creativity.
Main duties
Provide highly specialist psychological assessments for clients with complex conditions, including neuropsychological testing if needed.
Recognize and report signs of client harm, abuse, neglect, or poor practice, and take protective steps.
Conduct risk assessments and advise on psychological aspects of risk management.
Develop and implement psychological therapy plans based on evidence-based practices, negotiating with clients and carers.
Deliver a range of psychological therapies, adjusting formulations as necessary.
