A healthcare provider in Potters Bar is seeking a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist for their adult wards. The role involves delivering psychological assessments and interventions, working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates will have a Doctorate in Psychology and pertinent experience in inpatient settings. This position offers various training opportunities and the potential for professional development.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary psychological therapies team which covers both male and female adult acute inpatient wards at Potters Bar Clinic. The role involves providing a clinical service of specialist psychology assessments and interventions to service users with acute mental health needs. The role is working 37.5 hours a week, happy to consider part time 4 days a week.
As a Psychologist, you will have experience and knowledge in carrying a service user's caseload, including assessing complex needs and designing and delivering specialist psychological treatments to support their care plans. You will be responsible for individual and group interventions, diagnostic and cognitive assessments, MDT working and risk assessments. You will also facilitate staff reflective practice sessions and be requested to design and deliver training.

The post holder will provide a clinical service of specialistpsychology assessments and interventions to a number of adult patients with acute mental health needs on the ward and provide a specialist clinical perspective in relationto other patients with whom they might not be directly involved. Clinical responsibilities
To work autonomously to provide a specialist psychology service topatients as agreed by Consultant Psychiatrist, Therapies Lead, ConsultantClinical Psychologist and in discussion with wider MDT.
To undertake specialist assessments.
To provide specialist interventions according to formulations based onan appropriate conceptual framework, NICE guidelines, evidence from research,and in accordance with the wider MDT formulation and interventions.
To be involved in running therapeutic groups on the ward as agreed.
To continually monitor risk of all patients for whom there is directcontact, or regarding which the post holder receives relevant information,ensure acute risk is managed, liaise with MDT (and in particular responsiblepsychiatrist) regarding risk, and update electronic record including riskassessment as required.
Ensure that all clinical work is adequately recoded in the electronicpatient record.
Attend ward rounds (and other MDT meetings), case conferences, CPAs asrequired, and provide reports in advance for these in accordance with localprocedures.
Prepare clinical; reports as required, e.g. assessment reports,discharge summaries.
Liaison with internal and external colleagues as required
To complete all recording and reporting tasks associated with clinicalwork.
Supervision, training, CPDand compliance
To attend and make good use of clinical and managerial supervisionprovided within the unit.
To ensure that mandatory training (face-to-face and e-learning) isup-to-date.
To keep up to date and familiar with organisation policies andprocedures.
To keep appraised of information passed down through the clinicalgovernance structure (The Golden Thread)
To maintain professional registration.
Training and supervision
To facilitate reflective practice sessionsfor the ward-based staff as agreed within the psychological therapies team andin discussion with wider MDT.
Please note that the reflective practice sessionstake place at 7:30am and 7:30pm to cover day and night ward-based staff. There isflexibility in the working arrangements to accommodate these working patterns.
To facilitate and / or contribute to trainingsessions for ward-based staff and other colleagues as agreed within thepsychological therapies team and in discussion with wider MDT.
To supervise assistant and traineepsychological therapists as agreed within the psychological therapies team andin discussion with wider MDT.
To provide mentoring to Graduate AssistantPsychologists as agreed within the psychological therapies team and indiscussion with wider MDT.
