Job summary

We have a 1 WTE vacancy for a Senior Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/PD Lead. The position is part of ACP services in Mid Essex. We welcome newly qualified applicants who can be initially appointed at a band 7 with preceptorship to 8A in due course.

We are looking for someone interested in developing expertise in specific psychological interventions aimed at reducing risk and addressing emotional dysregulation, preferably Dialectical Behaviour Therapy or Schema Therapy.

Main duties of the job

ACP services are integrated within MDTs covering a broad geographical area, with bases in Chelmsford and Braintree. You will work alongside professionals from various backgrounds, providing psychological interventions to service users with complex presentations. The post-holder will become proficient in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions and contribute to managing these programmes. Skills in multidisciplinary treatment planning and building respectful relationships are essential.

Job description & responsibilities

This role involves working within supportive MDTs alongside experienced colleagues. You should be skilled in psychological assessments, interventions, managing high-risk clients, and developing clinical formulations, especially with clients experiencing severe emotional dysregulation, trauma, and related issues.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Doctoral training in clinical or counselling psychology, accredited by HCPC, including models of psychopathology, psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple psychological therapies, and lifespan development.

Desirable

  • DBT Intensive Training
  • Postgraduate Diploma in DBT
  • Schema Therapy accreditation

Skills/Experience

  • Experience in psychological assessment and treatment of complex mental health cases across care settings
  • Experience with risk assessment and neuropsychological assessments in adults
  • Experience working with clients with EUPD is desirable.
