Qualifications

This part-time role involves working 16 hours per week across two days, ideally Monday and Tuesday.

Cygnet Bostall House:

This facility provides assessment and treatment for men with learning disabilities and complex needs, including mental health issues and challenging behaviors.

The Role:

The successful candidate will be a HCPC-registered Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychologist interested in working with individuals with complex mental health needs. The role offers variety and a degree of autonomy.

Reporting to the Consultant Psychologist, you will work within a multidisciplinary team, manage a small caseload, and contribute to training, supervision, and service development. Your skills in clinical and risk assessments, formulation development, care planning, and psychological assessments will be essential.

Your Day-to-Day

  1. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  2. Conduct psychological assessments and provide therapy to individuals and groups
  3. Develop care plans collaboratively with the MDT
  4. Provide training and supervision to colleagues and consultation to teams
  5. Evaluate and contribute to service development and clinical research
  6. Disseminate outcomes through conferences and publications

We are looking for someone who is...

  • HCPC registered Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychologist with experience in mental health or forensic settings
  • Experience working with learning disabilities is preferred but not essential
  • Trained in complex therapies such as Schema Focused Therapy, Cognitive Analytical Therapy, or DBT is advantageous
  • Passionate about working with individuals with complex mental health needs
  • Capable of managing difficulties like self-harm, aggression, sexual offending histories, and substance issues
