About the Role

This role is ideal for an experienced Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychologist who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs. You will be a senior member of the clinical team, offering psychological input to children in family, foster, and residential placements, and supporting wider systems through consultation and training.

You will have the opportunity to shape and lead elements of the service, particularly in relation to work with children in care, developmental trauma, and neurodiversity. The post involves supervisory and leadership responsibilities alongside direct therapeutic work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide psychological assessments and interventions for children, young people, and families.
• Deliver consultation and reflective practice for carers, social workers, and partner agencies.
• Supervise junior psychologists and trainees.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance activities.
• Lead or co-lead therapeutic input within specialist areas such as residential care or complex trauma.
• Prepare reports for legal or professional settings as needed.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with professional standards.

Person Specification

• HCPC registration as a Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic Psychologist.
• UK-based experience working with children and adolescents, including within social care, educational, or forensic settings.
• Strong grounding in trauma-informed models and therapeutic approaches.
• Ability to provide clinical supervision and support development of junior staff.
• Confidence working across complex systems and liaising with professionals and families.
• Specialist knowledge in areas such as developmental trauma, neurodiversity, or looked-after children.
• Training in DDP, EMDR, Theraplay, or similar.
• Experience contributing to service evaluation, audits, or outcome measurement.
• Interest in leading or contributing to research or innovative practice.
