Job summary

SWLSTG MH Trust has a long history of providing schools in Merton with targeted mental health services, addressing mild to moderate mental health issues within schools. It is a buy-in service where each school typically contracts a clinician for one day per week.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly specialist part-time (0.6 WTE) psychologist to oversee, lead, and supervise the TAMHS team. Currently, this team comprises 2 art therapists and a CBT therapist, with potential for growth based on demand. The lead clinician will collaborate closely with the Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in Merton to ensure cohesive service delivery within the borough. Regular supervision will be provided by the borough MHST Clinical Psychologist Lead, with additional service development support from a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

In addition to team leadership, there are opportunities for direct clinical work, including school staff consultation, training, reflective practice groups, parent webinars, and group work. Training in EMDR is also available.

We are committed to running an inclusive, creative schools service and are open to considering a term-time only contract, ideal for working parents.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will ensure the smooth operation of the TAMHS service, supervise staff, manage risk and safeguarding issues, and liaise with schools and other services. The role involves promoting the service, working with MHSTs and CAMHS teams, and participating in whole-school mental health initiatives, training, and workshops.

Applications are welcomed from qualified psychologists with experience in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services.
