Job description

Clinical Coding & Workflow Administrator

This is an exciting role within our practice to join us as a Clinical Coding & Workflow Administrator within our IT and Coding Department.

To be responsible for the SNOMED coding of relevant information into patients' electronic healthcare records on the clinical system, in an accurate, timely, safe, and efficient manner.

In addition, the post holder will be a team player who can use their initiative to prioritise workload and support the team, providing administrative support in line with the organisation's needs.

Main duties of the job
  • Accurately code data on the clinical system into patients' medical records and workflow documents for staff members where appropriate.
  • Identify relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, code appropriately, and complete any detailed actions required.
  • Reorganise and summarise patient records and letters in preparation for summarising.
  • Identify and refer clinical actions to the appropriate team, including GPs.
  • Scan patient-related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients' healthcare records.
About us

SAVILLE MEDICAL GROUP is a large, friendly practice in the centre of Newcastle with a branch surgery at Newbiggin Hall.

We care for approximately 42,500 patients, including a high proportion of students in the City Centre and a typical population in the branch surgery. Our workforce includes 7 GP Partners, 24 Salaried GPs, and an extensive Nursing team. Additionally, we have a medicines management team with 3 Clinical Pharmacists and over 40 skilled staff members.

We also offer an expanding wellbeing team of 12 staff members with experience in mental health, dementia, children's charities, homelessness, substance misuse, domestic abuse, and supporting patients who struggle to engage with services.

Our Primary Care Network is led by one of our GP Partners and Practice Manager, enabling collaboration with key partners including the CCG, Newcastle Hospital Trust, LMC, and our Federation. This helps the practice stay proactive in integrating healthcare policy and digital systems, making each day challenging and rewarding.
