CLINICAL CODING TRAINING LEAD POSITION ATTRACTING A 15% RETENTION AND RECRUITMENT PREMIUM
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Clinical Coding Department as an ACC qualified Clinical Coder at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP).
Core duties are the provision of an efficient and high-quality clinical coding training service, as well as meeting Trust deadlines associated with clinical coding.

UHP are currently working towards implementing an EPR system go live July 26. We are currently offering the opportunity for some hybrid working with more options once UHP are fully digital (July 26).

Main duties of the jobThe post-holder will provide support for the improvement of clinically coded data collection across the Trust and will assist the Head of Clinical Coding and the Clinical Coding Training and Audit Manager in acting as a point of reference for Clinicians and other Staff groups.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing and providing clinical coding training throughout the department. To deliver full training programmes together with recommendations to Coders and Managerial staff towards the improvement of clinical standards throughout the Trust.
The post-holder will assist the Head of Clinical Coding and the Clinical Coding Training and Audit Manager in providing advice and support for clinical coding issues.

1. Provide a comprehensive clinical coding training service for the Trust

To work in conjunction with staff from the Information team to communicate the importance of clinical coding, including liaising with Service Lines in support of data quality, performance targets and business planning. Undertake presentation where appropriate to clinical, managerial and administrative staff.
7. Develop individual training plans for clinical coders as identified through coding audit to provided one to one coaching and support.
8. To continue to improve the quality of coded data through the delivery of training and awareness sessions to health care professionals.
9. Plan, coordinate and deliver a comprehensive clinical coding training schedule for trainee coders and continued training and development of existing staff alongside the Clinical Coding Training and Audit Manager (utilising NHS England approved courses and training materials) ensuring they operate within National Standards.
10. Promote the schedule of courses to external organisations to generate income for the Trust and where necessary work outside of the Trust to deliver training courses.
11. Provide advice to clinical staff, business managers nursing and other staff groups on coding issues as required.
12. Undertake clinical coding of patient activity as necessary.
13. To take part in regular performance appraisal
