Job summary

Mendip Vale Medical Group — Sunnyside Surgery in Clevedon is seeking a methodical Clinical Coder to join our coding team. This is an administrative role supporting patient safety through accurate coding and data entry, with structured induction and buddy support on arrival.

The role involves coding electronic and paper results, inputting information into clinical systems, and ensuring governance compliance.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent) with evidence of learning
• Experience working within an administration role
• Proven ability to record data accurately
• Good IT skills including Word, Excel, email and databases
• Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
• Tact and sensitivity, with ability to build trust
• Strong communication skills across different levels
• Patient-focused, compassionate and flexible, with a genuine commitment to values

Responsibilities

• Code electronic and paper correspondence and results accurately in line with the Practice Read Coding Protocol
• Apply correct codes using anatomical and physiological knowledge and link related information on a patient record
• Input patient information into clinical systems
• Check tasks and escalate anything requiring clinical judgement to the clinician or pharmacy team
• Maintain patient files to required quality standards in line with information governance, GDPR and DPA
