A family practice in York is seeking an experienced Clinical Coder to assign medical codes to patient diagnoses and treatments. This role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a busy healthcare environment. Qualifications

  • Previous experience of working as a clinical coder.

Responsibilities

  • Code all clinical correspondence accurately to appropriate patient records.

Job description

DaltonTerrace Surgery has an opportunity available for an experienced ClinicalCoder. The post holder will be a member of the Clinical Administration Team. Thesuccessful candidate will play a critical role in accurately assigning medicalcodes to patient diagnoses, treatments, and procedures within a GeneralPractice setting.

Thisposition requires careful attention to detail and the ability to interpretmedical documentation. The Clinical Coder ensures compliance with codingstandards and regulations while maintaining the integrity of patient records.

This role is suitablefor individuals who enjoy data input, coding and filtering correspondence tothe most appropriate team member to help maximise patient care. The post holderwill need to be able to prioritise workload effectively whilst ensuring thedocument management process is accurate and completed to a high standard inline with practice policy and procedures. The post holder will be part of ateam and required to work resourcefully and will require innovation,flexibility and commitment to the practice goals and ambitions.

Main duties of the job

Ensure that thefiling and recording of patient information is promptly handled with care andin line with practice policies and procedures

Code all clinicalcorrespondence accurately to appropriate patient records on the Systm 1clinical system

Ensure workflow toappropriate team/clinician for detailed actions identified on thecorrespondence

Computer dataentry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information inaccordance with the practice procedures

Participate inongoing formal training in accordance with national standards and Practicerequirements to update and maintain skills and knowledge.

Promote and improveawareness of clinical coding, communicating to clinical and management staffthe complex rules of coding and its financial effects
