Job summary
We are looking to recruit a 12 months fixed term clinical coder to cover maternity leave at our surgery at London Road Surgery.
Applicants need to demonstrate a professional and friendly manner. Along with advanced computer skills and medical terminology knowledge is desirable. Applicants will have to have a good attention for detail and work with a high level of accuracy. Applicants need to demonstrate good organisational skill and willingness to work individually and as part of a team. Experience of previous clinical coding is desirable. System one is also desirable although training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The clinical coder will be the initial point of contact for any documents received from other organisations or any coding related queries.

- Identify relevant clinical information documented in patients correspondence, accurately read coding and completing any detailed action.
- Entering the receipt of medical records from PCSE onto the clinical system
- Ensuring computerised records are accurate and up to date
- Correction of anomalies in patients records
- Manage GP2GP electronic record transfers including reviewing degraded entries
- Filing paper records into the medical records room
- Culling and sorting patient paper records in preparation for summarising.
