Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Clinical Biochemistry team. The role will involve receipt and preparation of samples, labelling, pre- and post-analytical work, and support across two sites with core and after-hours shifts.

You will work under Biomedical Scientists to maintain high quality analysis, accuracy and safety in a busy NHS laboratory.

Qualifications

• Must have a good level of basic education and be enthusiastic about healthcare in an NHS laboratory.
• Role supports receipt and preparation of samples with high accuracy and timely processing.
• Role requires you to work across two main sites and perform pre- and post-analytical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare a range of samples for analysis or storage.
• Ensure accurate barcoding, labeling and timely sample transfer.
• Set up and operate routine analytical equipment and manage pre-analytical processes.
• Input request details into the laboratory system and maintain logs and equipment records.
• Assist Biomedical Scientists and manage basic clerical tasks and stock.
