Band 6 Clinical Associate in Psychology/Senior Well Being Practitioner

Full Time - Fixed Term 12 Month Maternity leave Cover

To apply learning from undertaking additional training as a Clinical Associate in Psychology or as a Senior Well-being Practitioner, including:

  • Application of Professional Clinical Practice
  • Assessment, formulation and intervention
  • Application of research approaches and applied statistics in health settings (if appropriate)
Main duties

The post holder will provide psychological interventions to service users in the Mental Health Support Team in Schools (MHST) in City & Hackney CAMHS under the supervision of a qualified psychologist.

The post holder will work with people who use our services to develop a shared understanding of the complex issues the person is facing, how they cope and the impact this has on their mental, physical health and well-being and those around them (psychological assessment and formulation). They will explore social, psychological, therapies and other potential options which may improve health outcomes and help them achieve agreed goals. Psychological based provision is offered to the local/identified population at the individual, group, parent and family level through to teams, systems and community level.

Job responsibilities

The postholder would be expected to work closely with experts-by-experience, local communities, Community, Voluntary and Social Enterprises, to co-produce and co-develop services. The post holder will primarily be involved in partnership working, liaising with various stakeholders in the system, e.g. GPs, primary and secondary care mental health services, schools and colleges and the 3rd sector. The post holder will also be involved in raising the awareness of the complexity of the health and social challenges many people face and the impact this has on mental health & well-being and vice versa. A key aim of the service is to help young people and their families build resilience and feel more connected to their community, and to instill a sense of belonging.

The post holder will provide psychological assessments, psychological formulations and deliver psychological interventions to the communities we serve. Psychological based provision is offered within a range of theoretical models with an emphasis on systemic and ecological models.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Apprenticeship in Clinical Associate in Psychology or Senior Well-being Practitioner training.
  • An approved qualification in psychology conferring eligibility for graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society (Class 2.2 or higher)

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year's experience as a qualified EMHP/CWP ideally in East London.
  • Knowledge of City & Hackney\'s CAMHS Alliance services.

Knowledge

  • Good understanding and ability to apply functional analysis to presenting problems, including their development and maintenance
  • Basic understanding of mental health issues in young people and approaches to treatment and intervention

Skills

  • Strong ability to engage with a variety of services and community partners and stakeholders, and to expand existing networks
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and active listening skills with service users, carers, staff and community partners
