Cardiac Telemetry Unit cares for post-operative patients requiring cardiac monitoring and those with unstable cardiac conditions that demand close heart monitoring. Cardiac Tele also takes patients from critical care when patient volumes exceed ICU beds. The Cardiac Telemetry Unit is an excellent place for anyone looking to gain experience with cardiac patients. It is an invaluable starting point for those wishing to work in the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, or the Cath Lab.

Position Summary

The Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) is responsible for leading shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure the delivery of high-quality care, an exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow. In conjunction with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM), the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and oversees the unit’s clinical operations, including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes. This role involves managing settings where an acute care patient receives active treatment for injury, illness, medical condition, or post-intervention with assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Exemplifies the mission, vision, and values of Orlando Health.
  • Participates in shared leadership structure.
  • Manages staffing assignments for oncoming and off-going shifts, based on patient acuity and skill set of team members to ensure patient care needs are met.
  • Coordinates patient flow by working directly with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Monitors overall status of patients within the area of responsibility, especially seriously ill patients.
  • Coordinates and/or participates in the delivery of patient care, ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Serves as a resource supporting frontline team members and providers as appropriate.
  • Supports clinical collaboration focusing on expected patient length of stay.
  • Performs direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
  • Interfaces with patients and families to enhance customer experience by conducting Nurse Leader rounds and responding to patient, family, and physician concerns.
  • Participates in and/or leads safety huddles.
  • Promotes change and problem-solving through effective communication.
  • Assesses equipment needs to ensure staff have the necessary tools for patient care and can utilize equipment appropriately.
  • Supports and sustains all leader-driven initiatives.
  • Assists with retention strategies for new team members to foster a positive work environment.
  • Maintains a regulatory-ready environment of care.
  • Ensures appropriate staff allocation, including assignment of meal breaks and relief of team members as needed.
  • Utilizes effective fiscal management skills and resources for decision-making.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
  • Ensures compliance with all organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education/Training

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certification in area of expertise; preferred.
  • Additional advanced certifications may be required based on the patient population.
