Position Summary

Cardiac Telemetry Unit cares for post-operative patients requiring cardiac monitoring and those with unstable cardiac conditions that demand close heart monitoring. The Cardiac Telemetry Unit also takes patients from critical care when patient volumes exceed ICU beds. It is an excellent place for anyone looking to gain experience with cardiac patients. It is an invaluable starting point for those wishing to work in the Coronary Care Unit, Cardiovascular ICU, or the Cath Lab.

Position Summary: The Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) is responsible for leading shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure high-quality care, an exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow. In collaboration with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM), the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and oversees the unit’s clinical operations, including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes in settings where an acute care patient receives active treatment for injury, illness, medical condition, or post-intervention assessment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Exemplifies the mission, vision, and values of Orlando Health.
  • Participates in shared leadership structure.
  • Manages staffing assignments for oncoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and staff skill set to meet patient care needs.
  • Coordinates patient flow by working with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Monitors the status of patients within the area and closely monitors seriously ill patients.
  • Coordinates and/or participates in the delivery of patient care, ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Serves as a resource supporting frontline team members and providers as appropriate.
  • Supports clinical collaboration focusing on expected patient length of stay.
  • Performs direct patient care activities as needed to meet operational requirements.
  • Interacts with patients and families to enhance customer experience through Nurse Leader rounds and responding to complaints.
  • Participates in and/or leads safety huddles.
  • Promotes change and problem solving within the team.
  • Assesses equipment needs to ensure staff have necessary tools for patient care and can utilize equipment appropriately.
  • Supports and sustains leader-driven initiatives.
  • Assists with retention strategies for new team members to foster a positive work environment.
  • Maintains a regulatory-ready environment of care.
  • Ensures proper staff allocation, including meal breaks and relief as needed.
  • Utilizes fiscal management skills and resources effectively in decision-making.
  • Maintains regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
  • Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications

Education/Training

Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in Alabama or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certification in area of expertise; preferred.
  • Advanced certifications may be required based on patient population.
