Job description

Explore this exciting opportunity to support the Victims’ Payment Board (VPB) in the delivery of the clinical assessment service for the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme.

If you have over 4 years post registration experience and are experienced in mental health or psychiatric backgrounds, we are now hiring nurses and allied health professionals to join the team as a Clinical Assessor!

Benefits:

  • We offer a competitive basic salary of £38,500 alongside a career pathway programme which can increase your salary up to £41,400 plus up to 10% bonus!
  • Fully paid 6 weeks’ training programme with on-going support provided
  • Flexible work patterns – Work between 8am and 8pm, while you’ll be contracted to work 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Hybrid Working – predominantly working from home, with clinic visits required
  • 23 days’ holiday, rising to 25 after 2 years’

Responsibilities:

  • Meet physically and/or virtually with applicants and review available medical evidence from applicants to the TPS scheme to determine the permanence of an applicant’s condition and their percentage disablement
  • Play a pro-active role in seeking insight and further medical evidence as required from GP’s, other healthcare professionals or services to support the applicants TPS application.
  • Analyse and interpret clinical information and supporting evidence to support your assessment and subsequent structured, evidence-based report for the Department of Justice (DoJ) and the Victims Payment Board (VPB)
  • Compile a comprehensive report in a professional and concise manner, including a detailed history, a full justification and conclusion from evidence gathered to support the Victims Payment Board (VPB) in their decision-making.

Criteria:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ post-registration experience With AYE & PIP qualifications completed
  • Fully registered without sanction or conditions of practice with NISCC
  • Must be based in Northern Ireland
  • A demonstrable background in a Mental Health / Psychiatric speciality
  • Ability to work at pace, set boundaries, manage conversations, and keep to timescales.
  • Ability to relate to people from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, races, religions, and cultures.
  • Report writing skills with an ability to deal with a high percentage of work using a laptop and IT systems.
  • Gather relevant information, where applicable from the applicant and or representative, and analyse and interpret clinical information along with any other supporting evidence.
