Job description

Reporting to a Regional Nurse Manager, this role will assume responsibility for providing a first-class clinical service to patients receiving nursing and complex services within a Pharmaxo Healthcare clinic location, specifically oncology/haematology, in line with the Company Mission.

All patients, whether suffering from acute or chronic disease, should have equitable and timely access to complex injectable medicines in a setting of their choice.

Working closely with the other members of the multi-disciplinary team, the job holder will ensure that the services provided by them comply with the requirements of the Care Quality Commission Inspectorate, The Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority, Care Inspectorate, best clinical practice, and the legal and ethical requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and ensuring compliance with the company's policies and procedures.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care and procedures, including the administration of systemic anti-cancer treatments, for which they are competent to practice, without direct supervision, and, where applicable, provide leadership to junior staff.

The post holder will be required to take charge of the clinic as necessary.

Main duties of the job

To continuously update nursing knowledge, ensuring it is in line with current legislation and best practice.

Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.

Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the medical team.

Provide compassionate support to the patient and family.

Educate patients and their families to promote understanding and independence.

Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure confidentiality of patient information.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, ensuring that patient safety is paramount.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse with a current NMC pin and Nursing Qualification Commitment to CPD and engagement in training/development relevant to the role.
  • Attainment of a recognised chemotherapy qualification.
Experience
  • Substantial post-registration experience in a clinical setting. Ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders. Self-motivated and energetic approach, showing interest in understanding the business and industry. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of administering S/C, IM, or IV medications.
  • SACT experience.
  • Experience of the pharmaceutical industry or out-of-hospital services. Knowledge of out-of-hospital services and pharmacy services. Knowledge of homecare/out-of-hospital systems and practices.
