Job Description

To provide a safe and high-quality service throughout the facility while maintaining good operational procedures and fostering positive relationships between the service and members of the public.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide a climbing instructor service.
  2. Perform climbing wall duties, including route setting and administrative tasks related to the wall.
  3. Manage media for the Climbing Centre in collaboration with others (e.g., Principal Sports & Leisure Officer and Corporate Communications).
  4. Carry out any other duties reasonably required, as agreed with management.
The Individual
  • Previous experience working with people.
  • Experience in instructing/coaching climbing in a similar environment.
  • Qualified CWA / SPA.
  • Strong and confident climber.
  • Excellent customer care skills.
  • Ability to follow routines and procedures.
  • Flexible approach to work.
  • Observational skills for effective management of the wall and its users.
  • Experience in creative and safe route setting.
  • Active listening and effective communication skills for interacting with the public and staff.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift and carry reasonable weights and move equipment in accordance with handling regulations.
  • Ability to bend and stretch for cleaning tasks.
  • Flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
