Job description

VANRATH are assisting with the recruitment of a Document Checking Team Lead for a leading global law firm operating in over thirty countries.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for career progression and knowledge expansion within a global organization that highly values its staff.

This is a Hybrid role, working 3 days in the Belfast City Centre offices and 2 days from home. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with a 1-hour lunch break. This is a Permanent position.

Salary: Fully Negotiable, with progression opportunities and attractive benefits from a global firm.

Key Tasks:

  • Oversee day-to-day operations and people management of the Document Checking department, ensuring high service delivery standards.
  • Manage the team through feedback sessions, meetings, and performance reviews.
  • Coordinate staff training and development, reviewing objectives regularly.
  • Monitor team performance, conduct regular check-ins, and implement formal management procedures as needed.
  • Suggest process improvements and work more efficiently.
  • Maintain high service levels, exceeding client expectations through effective coordination with colleagues, clients, and third-party suppliers.
  • Address service issues, propose solutions, and escalate when necessary.
  • Provide cover for other roles as needed to ensure service continuity.
  • Collaborate with Document Experts for technical guidance.
  • Ensure smooth handovers at shift changes.
  • Manage larger projects within Document Services, especially inter-departmental projects.
  • Enhance technical knowledge through training and shadowing.

  • Has a thorough understanding of exceptional client service.
  • Proven experience in people management within a professional services environment.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills across all stakeholder levels.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, ideally 24/7.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and innovation.
