Job summary

Dickson O'Brien is seeking an experienced accountant to manage a portfolio of clients, preparing statutory and management accounts, VAT returns, and tax computations. You will guide junior colleagues and work with Xero, Sage, and CCH Accounts Production, while assisting partners with special projects.

The role emphasizes technical development, attendance at webinars, and clear client communication, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy across accounts and advisory tasks.

Qualifications

• Substantial accounting experience in practice, ideally in a UK firm.
• Experience in preparing statutory and management accounts, VAT and bookkeeping.
• Proficient with Xero and Sage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and complete Limited company accounts and tax computations.
• Use Xero and other software to complete key tasks.
• Support junior colleagues with queries and assignments.
• Prepare management accounts.
• Review VAT returns prepared by juniors.
• Be the point of contact for your client portfolio.
• Inform senior management of client issues.
• Identify potential time overruns and suggest mitigations.
• Clear review points until accounts are signed.
• Attend webinars to maintain technical ability.
• Assist partners on special projects such as acquisitions and disposals.
