Job summary

TC Group, a top 20 UK accountancy firm, is seeking an experienced Client Manager for our Letchworth team. You will own a diverse portfolio of owner-managed clients, delivering accounts, tax compliance and outsourced finance services with a focus on high service standards.

You’ll lead client meetings, mentor junior staff and collaborate across tax, payroll and audit to ensure a seamless client experience. Hybrid working and development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • ACA or ACCA qualification, or substantial equivalent experience within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and business and personal taxation.
  • Experience managing a client portfolio and delivering excellent client service.
  • Previous experience reviewing the work of others and supporting team development.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and budgets effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting clients and developing people.
  • Experience working with owner-managed businesses and familiarity with software such as CCH, Xero, Sage or QuickBooks would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of owner-managed business clients and acting as their primary day-to-day contact.
  • Reviewing statutory accounts, management accounts and financial reports.
  • Overseeing corporation tax and personal tax compliance work.
  • Leading client meetings and providing practical commercial advice.
  • Building strong, trusted relationships through proactive client service.
  • Supervising, mentoring and developing accountants and bookkeepers.
  • Allocating work across the team and monitoring workflow and deadlines.
  • Resolving technical queries and escalating complex issues when required.
  • Managing WIP, billing and debt collection across your portfolio.
  • Supporting process improvements and helping drive departmental performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across tax, payroll, audit and specialist service lines to deliver a seamless client experience.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday


Working Pattern: Hybrid and flexible working available

The Opportunity

As an Client Manager, you'll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of owner-managed business clients, overseeing the delivery of accounts, tax compliance and outsourced finance services.

Working closely with clients and colleagues, you'll play a key role in ensuring exceptional service standards while supporting and developing junior team members. This is a varied and rewarding role offering the opportunity to make a real impact on both client success and the wider growth of the department.

What You'll Be Doing
