Job summary

DeverellSmith Group seeks a Client Accountant to join a leading student accommodation provider in Wantage, Oxfordshire. You will deliver accurate financial reporting across a growing property portfolio and support senior stakeholders with insights.

Key duties include monthly/quarterly management packs, forecasting, budgeting, and cashflows. Hybrid working available; salary discussed on first call. You will collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to drive performance.

Qualifications

• Qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA (or progress towards qualification).
• Strong financial modelling experience and ability to build P&L models.
• Advanced Excel skills including complex formulas and scenario analysis.
• Experience with large data sets and tight deadlines.
• Clear communication of financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness and proactive problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of properties from a finance perspective, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements
• Preparing monthly and quarterly management packs, including full P&L forecasts, variance analysis and commentary
• Developing high-quality client reports and investment summaries to support decision-making
• Partnering with Operations and Commercial teams on annual budgets, strategy, and performance improvement
• Supporting audits, completing funding requests, and producing cashflow forecasts
• Working with site teams to provide financial support and guidance, ensuring processes run smoothly
• Assisting with onboarding and integration of new sites into the accounting system
• Producing financial models and analysis to aid strategic planning, including scenario analysis and forecasting
• Liaising with clients, senior managers and external stakeholders to respond to queries and provide insight

We’re working with a leading and rapidly expanding provider of student accommodation who are seeking aClient Accountantto join their team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at a time of significant growth. Due to continued expansion of the portfolio and the acquisition of new assets, this role that will play a key part in supporting the organisation’s growing property portfolio. It's an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop their finance and accounting career in a commercial and fast-paced environment, gaining exposure to a large portfolio of assets and working closely with both clients and senior stakeholders.

The Role

Person Profile / Experience

• Qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA (or equivalent), or demonstrable progress towards completion of a recognised professional accountancy qualification
• Proven analytical ability, with strong financial modelling experience
• Advanced Excel skills, including building models from scratch (P&L, scenario analysis, overhead reporting)
• Experience working with large data sets and producing accurate results under tight deadlines
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, able to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving
• Strong team player, adaptable to changing requirements and confident working across multiple departments
• Previous experience within property, real estate, or multi-site operations would be advantageous but not essential

Location: Wantage, Oxfordshire (Hybrid working)
Hours: Monday-Friday 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on Experience (discussed in first call)
