A local educational institution in Esher is seeking a Clerk to the Governors for part-time, term-time work. The role involves preparing agendas, taking meeting minutes, and providing legislative advice. Pay Grade PS7 (£32,512 to £34,654 FTE). Starting pro-rata salary £2,327.
The governors of Esher C of E High School are looking to appoint an experienced and self-motivated clerk to join this friendly school at the heart of its community. The clerk is accountable to the governing board, working effectively with the chair of governors, the headteacher, and other governors.
The clerk to the governors will ensure the smooth running of the governing board by preparing agendas and meeting papers, taking and distributing minutes, providing administrative support, maintaining statutory records, and offering procedural and legislative advice to the governing board.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, able to work to tight deadlines, knowledgeable about governance procedures and education legislation, an excellent communicator, capable of maintaining confidentiality, and flexible in their approach to work.
This is a part-time role covering 7 local governing body meetings per year. Meetings generally start at 5 pm on Thursdays and last approximately two hours. Full CPD is provided, and clerks are expected to attend all relevant training events and briefings.
The salary is calculated based on 3 hours and 5 minutes per week for 37.6 weeks per year, allowing time to cover all meetings and training. Additional hours may occasionally be needed for ad hoc meetings or panels, paid as overtime.
