Adecco is recruiting on behalf of West Yorkshire Police for a Clerk of Works to join their team.

West Yorkshire Police is seeking to appoint an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Clerk of Works to join their dedicated Estates Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to provide an in‑house clerk of works service across both mechanical and electrical disciplines. The role involves working within live buildings, overseeing reactive and planned maintenance works, and supporting major installations. You will also assist the wider department in delivering projects and managing day‑to‑day facilities operations.

Role Details
  • Position: Clerk of Works – Mechanical and Electrical
  • Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week (hybrid/field based)
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Salary: £39,813 – £42,897

About the Role

The Force Estate comprises approximately 100 buildings, including a variety of operational and specialist facilities. This role demands someone who can work both independently and collaboratively, with the ability to manage and prioritise a diverse workload.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for mechanical and electrical works.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Respond to day‑to‑day issues and solve practical problems efficiently.
  • Deliver clear oral and written technical advice to clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • Review and work with specifications, tender scopes, pricing documents, and technical drawings.
  • Manage and coordinate contractors across multi‑discipline projects and maintenance tasks.
  • Validate financial payment applications from contractors.
Essential Requirements
  • Strong background in the Mechanical and Electrical industry.
  • City & Guilds Level 3 / ONC qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience in facilities management and project delivery.
  • Ability to travel throughout West Yorkshire as required.
