Responsibilities include overseeing compliance with specifications and regulations, conducting site inspections, and maintaining relationships with contractors. Interim Clerk of Works – Surrey – £47.45 per hour (Umbrella)
A Housing Association operating across South London and Surrey is seeking an Interim Clerk of Works to support the delivery of high-quality housing projects. This role is offered on a contract basis and is reporting directly to the Major Works Programme Manager.
Role Overview:
You will play a key role in the Quality Assurance of capital and cyclical works being delivered by a Housing Partnership. Working alongside a dedicated team, your responsibility will be to ensure works meet the required specifications, standards, and health & safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a thorough Quality Assurance / Clerk of Works service across the full range of capital and cyclical work.
- Agree joint quality control procedures with contractors and audit these for compliance and effectiveness.
- Maintain a professional and constructive relationship with contractors’ supervisory staff.
- Review and interrogate specifications and drawings to identify and rectify issues at an early stage.
- Carry out weekly site inspections to verify materials, workmanship, site practices, and compliance with safety standards.
- Prepare detailed Health & Safety and site inspection reports.
- Carry out inspections of completed works to ensure standards are met.
- Prepare and review specifications where necessary.
Requirements:
- Must be a UK Resident.
- Proven experience in housing with a local authority or social housing provider is essential.
- Hold a recognised construction-related qualification (minimum HNC/HND level).
- Strong track record as a Clerk of Works or Surveyor on large or moderately complex residential projects.
- Demonstrated ability in managing quality standards on major capital works programmes.
- Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
